 Practice Time: 35-45 minutes per night

 5 minutes: Long Tone Warm-Up / ICS Band Warm up / Notes You Know 

10 minutes: Piece #1 Play each Section 3x. (example: Beginning to m.16 or Beginning to letter A)

                                 Work on difficult sections. (see Troubleshooting)

                                 Play through entire piece.  Take all repeats. 

10 minutes: Piece #2 Play each Section 3x. (example: Beginning to m.16 or Beginning to letter A)

                                Work on difficult sections. (see Troubleshooting)

                                 Play through entire piece.  Take all repeats. 

10 minutes: Piece #3 Play each Section 3x. (example: Beginning to m.16 or Beginning to letter A)

                                 Work on difficult sections. (see Troubleshooting)

                                 Play through entire piece.  Take all repeats. 

10 minutes: Play each Section 3x. (example: Beginning to m.16 or Beginning to letter A)

                                 Work on difficult sections. (see Troubleshooting)

                                 Play through entire piece.  Take all repeats. 

Bonus Time: Review what you practiced.

 

Troubleshooting

1.      Check the Time Signature and Key Signature. SHARPS, FLATS, NATURALS

2.      Check your fingering chart, make sure you play the right note.

3.      Play each note as a whole note, so you get the correct pitches. 

4.      Practice moving you fingers only. 

5.      Clap the rhythm.

6.   Add one note at a time.

7.   Add one measure at a time.  

8.      Scat the melody and rhythm.

 

Always Remember

1.  Form your Embouchure correctly. 

2.  Breathe; fill up all of your lungs.

3.    Support the air by pushing from your stomach.

4.    Sit up straight, even when you are at home.

5.    Articulations; say Ta or Doo. 

 

Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble

Rotate your music so you get equal amounts of practice time.
