Bethel Church is an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, welcoming all persons who seek Jesus Christ and to live out His extravagant welcome to others.  Open and Affirming means that Bethel Church publicly declares that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people (those of all sexual orientations) are welcome in its full life and ministry, including membership, leadership, Christian education, and other roles.   We rejoice with couples who now have the opportunity to form Civil Unions that are recognized, not only by the Bethel Church community, but by the State of Illinois.
