These are projects that almost anyone can do, to help Joint Neighborhood Ministries

No More Diapers Club

Celebrate your child's toilet training!
You know you want to shout it from the housetops!

The No More Diapers Club

  • helps you and your family celebrate this milestone
  • assists low-income families who are still working to reach this milestone
  • teaches your little one to learn the joy of sharing

Donate disposable diapers to JNM.  "There are little babies who still need diapers who we can help." Bring us your donation and receive a No More Diapers membership certificate for your child.

Hugs and Kisses Club
XXXOOO

What foods do you or your child love?  Mac and cheese?  Chili?  Chicken and Dumplings?  Why not donate a case!  How about this for a fun preschool class activity.  Bring a case of your child's favorite food.  Give each child a black marker.  Thy must find the barcode on the can or box and put a big X through the barcode.  Then give the can or box a little hug and send it on its way to some hungry folks at Joint Neighborhood Ministries.

This project works well for youth groups, women's groups, as well as an afternoon with Grandma or Auntie.  Let us know ahead of time and we will send you Hugs and Kisses stickers.  Youth group leaders:  Have hugs and kisses Hershey candy to eat while you do this fun service activity!

The Hugs and Kisses Club helps Joint Neighborhood Ministries fill our shelves as well as mark the food.  (Yes, we really do have to mark through each food item's barcode.)

Birthday Club

It's your birthday month.  Awesome!  Do something nice for someone else.  What a great family tradition to begin.  Or maybe you are at that point in life where you really don't need a thing.  But you could help someone who is in great need of food, clothing, or utility assistance.  Donate a dollar for every candle on your cake, and light up someone else's world.

Make a donation in honor of a friend's birthday.

Youth groups--Help a low income family to throw a birthday party.  Donate a birthday party kit:  cake mix, frosting, birthday candles, candle holders, birthday napkins, two rolls of crepe paper streamers, paper plates, and a 12 pack of soda.

Scrub-a-Dub-Dub Club

How many items of soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and laundry detergent do you use each month?  Personal care items and cleaning supplies cannot be purchased through food stamps.  These items are always in high demand at Joint Neighborhood Ministries.

Your gifts of supplies or money for our Scrub-a-Dub-Dub Club will place you or your group's name on the Scrub-a-Dub-Dub TUB.

Been There/Done That Club

Ladies, let's celebrate menopause!  Feminine hygiene items cannot be purchased with food stamps.  Purchasing these necessary items is a real hardship for many women.

You, your women's fellowship, or your Red Hat group can be a part of our Been There/Done That Club.  Donate feminine hygiene items to Joint Neighborhood Ministries.

Housewarming Shower

Throw a housewarming shower for a JNM family.  Families are often in need of dishes, pots/pans, silverware, bedding, towels, TV trays (many do not have tables), pillows, blankets...the list goes on and on.

When a family leaves a shelter, they are starting from scratch.  Help make their house a home.

TP Club

There really are better things to do with toilet paper than "decorate" someone's house.  TP is something most of us take for granted.  Did you know that toilet paper cannot be purchased with food stamps?  That is why JNM families are always hoping to receive toilet paper.

Donate a case of toilet paper and become a member of the TP Club.  A donation of $50 to Joint Neighborhood Ministries (not TP Club on memo line of your check) will enable us to purchase a case of toilet paper and send you a TP Club membership certificate.  A funny, yet helpful gag gift for that person who spends hours in the bathroom!

Change Changes Lives

It may not seem like much money, but every little bit helps.  Take a pail, a fishbowl, a shoebox, a basket, and fill it with your change.  A youth group, a family, an individual or an entire church can collect coins.  JNM families are often in need of help to pay their utility bills.  You can help!  Your change can change their life.

Win-Win Challenge

Living in a sports-oriented culture, we can often be pretty competitive.  Use that competitive nature to bring a win-win solution.  Sunday School classes can compete on who can raise the most money for JNM families.  Make paper chain links for every dollar collected and watch the chain grow.  When you announce the winners, break the chain.  Your gifts can help break the chain of hunger and poverty.
