
In April 1891, fifteen women from and around Floraville, Illinois met in the church under the leadership of Rev. W.H. Hosto, who was the supply pastor before Rev. H. Michels. They organized the first “Frauenverein”, now known as the Women’s Guild.

Minutes of the entire meetings from 1891 through 1944 are written in the German language. Meetings were held the first Wednesday of every month at 2:00 p.m. It cost 25 cents to join and the dues were 10 cents per month. At a later date the name of the organization was changed to Ladies Aid. In 1936 the name was again changed to “Evangelical Women’s Union. On April 4, 1945 to the present day it has been known as the “Women’s Guild”. A new constitution was adopted on July 15, 1954. The ladies have helped St. Paul’s Congregation in various ways. On January 28, 1894 the ladies bought lots, which were owned by Christoph Fischer, presenting them to the congregation for a new church building. They also bought one of the bells in the present church steeple in 1894. In December 1895 they bought an organ for $175.00. In 1918 they bought a Kilgen Pipe organ from St. Paul’s Church in Waterloo. This pipe organ was used until it was replaced in 1955.
