In the left column of your paper, write down the page number and copy
short passages from the story that seem intriguing, interesting, confusing,
etc. In the right column, write your responses to the passages you have
selected. Your responses indicate what the passage means, what if reminds
you of, what you don’t understand, how you feel about it, or any other
comments that seem appropriate. The Double
Entry Journal Help Sheet will help make the writing easier.
Remember, copy the passage and quotation along with the page number at the top left column and write your comments directly opposite in the right column. Continue down the page in the same manner.
You should respond thoroughly to at least four passages for complete credit.
