This summer when the Liefer family opened their brewery in the heart of Red Bud, they never could have imagined how popular it would become. It took two years to restore a 19th century Market Street landmark building while maintaining its historic beauty, but the outcome was well worth the time and investment. Within weeks after opening, word spread quickly about the 12 varieties of delicious German style beer Kris Liefer was brewing, and now customers are coming from far and wide to gather in the beer garden out back or snuggle into cozy booths inside. Kirk and his wife Stephanie, along with Kent and Karen Liefer, Ray and Kara (Liefer) Wagner, and Kris and Danielle Liefer, are enjoying running the hopping business.
