Factors That Affect Your Internet Requirements
There are several ways we can determine how much bandwidth your business needs.
- Number of employees and devices. The larger your staff, the more speed you will need. This is because download speed is divided between the number of employees you have. For instance, if your Internet plan includes 100 Mbps download speed and you have 10 employees, each employee only has a download speed of 10 Mbps. That’s probably not fast enough for receiving large files or attending Zoom meetings, so you might consider switching to 1,000 Mbps, or 1 Gbps.
- Your growth plan. If you currently have several employees but know your staff will be expanding in the near future, you should plan on needing more speed. Instead of waiting until your business grows and starts experiencing lags and lulls, get ahead of the game by adding bandwidth before the change takes place.
- Types of online activities. Different Internet tasks require different download and upload speeds.
